Joe, since the typical applications are generally not bandwidth limited. That argument has been used ad nauseum on this board for years. Given that that's the case, you could still be using your 286 to type letters and get e-mail. OTOH, by advancing the technology beyond "today's requirements", they've enabled desktop video, speech recognition, and a whole slew of new applications. Technology will continue to advance, and large datastreams will grow to be more and more significant a part of the processing we do. RDRAM will be needed for those new applications. Dave
