Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Opens Long Beach Store

``Hot Doughnuts Now' Set to Glow at New Long Beach Location

LONG BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 18, 2000--Krispy Kreme Doughnuts
opened the doors to its long-awaited coastal location -- in Long Beach.

The new Southern California store is part of the Great Circle Family Foods franchise and includes the Krispy Kreme signature
glowing ``Hot Doughnuts Now' sign, which signals when Krispy Kreme Original Glazed doughnuts are hot, fresh and rolling off
the conveyor belt.

Krispy Kreme Long Beach, located at 4760 Los Coyotes Diagonal/562/494-4662, north of the traffic circle and Pacific Coast
Highway, expects to draw guests from Orange County to San Pedro. The store encompasses approximately 3,800 square feet
of doughnut making and dining space and hosts 24-hour drive-thru service -- seven days a week. Retail service is available
from 5:30 a.m. to 11 p.m., Sunday through Thursday, and 5:30 a.m. to 1 a.m., Friday and Saturday.

``We at Krispy Kreme want to be fully-entrenched in Southern California. Our Long Beach opening is just one more
opportunity for Southern California residents to get to know Krispy Kreme,' said Roger Glickman, president of Great Circle
Family Foods, the Southern California licensee of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts.

``As Krispy Kreme continues to expand in California, we will look forward to being an active member in each neighborhood.
This opening is very exciting because we have been welcomed with open arms by the Long Beach community.'

``Krispy Kreme is just what Long Beach needs,' said Mark Bixby, vice president of Bixby Land Company, owner of the Vons
Circle Center. ``Residents of Long Beach have been commuting to the Orange County locations to get a coveted Krispy
Kreme doughnut and now we have one in our own backyard!'

Krispy Kreme made its mark on Southern California last year, with the introduction of its La Habra store in January of 1999.
Following that store, four additional stores have opened, Van Nuys, Orange, Ontario and Huntington Park.

``We have a premium quality product -- the Krispy Kreme Original Glazed, and Southern Californians are our best
supporters,' said Roger Glickman. ``As a result, our Southern California stores have sold more than 24 million doughnuts since
January 1999.

Great Circle Family Foods, LLC, a Los Angeles-based company, is the exclusive franchisee for Krispy Kreme Doughnuts in
Southern California. Great Circle Family Foods brings strong real estate development, food service and hands-on doughnut
and retail expertise to the table. Additional stores are scheduled to open in Gardena and Canoga Park.

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts and Great Circle Family Foods are committed to their neighbors. Strongly tied to the community,
Krispy Kreme aims to help raise funds for local schools, churches and community organizations in every Southern California
neighborhood hosting a Krispy Kreme store.
