>>Today's ruling was on a motion by the relatives to block Juan from taking Elian out of the US. I have not found a reference in any news source to a motion from the Govt to transfer custody.

So what that does mean? It happened.

The Justice Department had also asked the court for an affirmative order telling Elian's great-uncle Lazaro Gonzalez to turn over Elian to his father, Juan Miguel Gonzalez.

>>The Reno and the INS believe they have the authority to transfer custody without a court order.

Legal experts are already saying that the Court order requires Reno to see that Elian does not leave the country. Experts say that would mean that Reno is forbidden from handing Elian over to a father who has stated that he will remove the child from the US.

Let's face it, Reno is an expert at losing evidence so it's no stretch to see her losing Elian too.
