Eric L: Not boring at all, but you are right while it is very comprehensive in covering the world of possibilities and suppliers - therefore including some real meat on the bones - it is also not very current.

But helpful. One point that caught my eye was that Ovum is predicting that one major option will be a handset which covers GSM, CDMAOne and CDMA2000.

Does this indicate that CDMA2000 will work with both CDMAOne and GSM?

It would appear on its face that must be so, for if not, why the handset? Or perhaps I misunderstand.

I am curious since some here seem to think that GSM and CDMA2000 are repellant forces sort of like magnetic polarity. Perhaps that fear is a bit overstated.

Best.

Look forward to further info from you.

PS Any comment on Dr J's use of the word "unstable" re state of play in designing chips which would include DS?
He doesn't seem to think specifications or standards are quite finalized yet for chip design purposes.
