If you are in to buying stories rather than making money you need to see a con artist - they always have the best stories.

Frank & Ted - how funny. In this conversation thread I've agreed with Ted and disagreed with Frank on the reason Ted invested in AMD. Then two posts later I agreed with Frank and disagreed with Ted on what reason there is to invest. Money, baby! Hell, I'd even buy Intel again (I just wouldn't buy an Intel processor)! :)

Dave

ps - that was a joke. I just bought a Sony VIAO and absolutely love it.

pps - Frank, seven days til takeoff to PDC. I'll email you PM regarding dive shops.

ppps - Ted, seven days til takeoff to PDC, get ready for the AMD vacation effect.

There are lots of areas in my life that are not about money at all. Those are the most important parts of my life. Investing simply is not one of those areas. In THAT area, it is all about money to me. I can't think of any other reason to invest.

Frank ,

Now you have surprised me with your comments. I worked my *ss off for 6 years, stashing enough money so that everything would not have to be about the money. Now I can do things, invest in things where the numbers don't have to crunch all the time.

Investing is fun for me and I think part the reason is that I invest in things that I like even if they don't look like they will make money. Can't do it all the time but enough to stoke my interest.

I am surprised you have not come up with a similar formula...especially living on the beach in Mexico.
