FWIW I'll take a shot. Big gap up to start, a little bailing out or profit taking then steady til late in day naz drop. It appeared to bounce off support at 17.25. It's now sitting on support so I would guess opening above today's close is key. I didn't get to follow the market today but looking at a few tonight, quite a few look like this one. Small volume traded lends itself to volatility. I was happy to see the naz act orderly today but everyone seemed to be worried about tomorrow being options "friday".
Maybe that means we will rock and roll.

All opinions welcome...you won't hurt my feelings!

Carolyn, I wanted to opine on your chart because it shows something I've been trying to avoid.

The stock closed at $16 the previous day and opened at $20/sh. A $4 gap on a $16 stock is a 25% overnight markup!
WHY?

It does not suprise me the stock glided a little higher as "buy on the open" orders were executed and more $$ were drawn in. But look at the money flow on the bottom indicator. It went negative today. So as investors were drawn in at excitement levels, big kahuna $$$ were heading for the door.

I saw that with a lot of the leaders today, OBV & MF turning negative which I believe indicates big $$$ is leaving the stock even though stochs and MACD seen to be near signaling. I dumped INTC/QCOM/CSCO and a couple of others cuz I felt that big $ was not going to participate in any late day rallies.
I think this is why Donna and V-Meister emphasized CAUTION above all else.

A little more than $.02 but I'm a master at making a short story long. <gg>

Carolyn:
If I can add my 2 cents worth on VLNC:
Company announced "a small order for wireless batteries from a large company" this morning.
Resulted in a spate of new buyers.
Stock was at 13 a few days ago.
Profit taking hit when the $19 level didn't hold.
Fundamentally, I'm bullish.
Tomorrow will tell us whether shorts will win or not.
