The polls say that Elian should be with his father. The country they live in is ancillary to the real issue, parent's rights.

Remember, at the start the INS said that Florida Family Court had jurisdiction. Then, after a short while, they changed.

The change came after Castro went nuts, ordering massive demonstrations. According to various news sources, Castro threatened Clinton with another Mariel boat lift like the one that sank him in 1980.

That's why the whole Clinton apparatus is trying to throw Elian to the wolves. They don't want another Mariel.
