The polls say that Elian should be with his father. The country they live in is ancillary to the real issue, parent's rights.

According to various news sources, Castro threatened Clinton with another Mariel boat lift like the one that sank him in 1980. That's why the whole Clinton apparatus is trying to throw Elian to the wolves. They don't want another Mariel.
