Re: By the way, how much debt has AMD accumulated over the years?

$1.4 Billion. But they have $.9 Billion in cash now, and their analog com division will be sold this quarter for about $.5 Billion. I expect to see an issue of additional shares to provide capital during the year. It will amount to a few percent of the float. AMD will be cash rich in two quarters.

Regards,

Dan

Tench,

re: AMD cash position.

AMD's cash position improved by $300M q2q.

Also they selling a division this quarter.

Assuming they do only as well as last quarter and sell the division for $300M or so that gives them around $1.5Bn in cash.

Thats not a bad position at all since they have already funded the big dresden fab which will be adequate till end of 2001.

They are in the best cash position they have ever been in.

Flash fab will be funded directly out of FASL and customer prepayments such as cisco, samsung, alcatel etc.

Because AMD invested INSANELY while many folks here laughed they have excess capacity for the foreseeable future.

While Intels management twiddled its thumbs investing in its stock, and acquisitions/investments which are turning into busts such as Level1, web hosting etc.

regards,

Kash

Since tax break does not consider as operating profits, this means it will not generate extra profit sharing for you and PB.

Ten, Intel did not get a "tax break" they got tax justice. Words matter, especially here.
