Based on my limited experience of observation--reading and what my friends tell me--women do grieve (not all, naturally), but the weight given to the ability to reproduce vs. the unpleasant possibilities of menopause tend to vary. I am not there yet so I cannot give a reading as to myself and my own experience.

If you thought I was suggesting out only purpose was to reproduce, I was not. I meant only that reproduction is our basic purpose as organisms, as biological creatures. My other purpose is whatever I choose it to be. That is not limited by anything, except my own conceptions.

No, I do not think that I mistook you. Unlike you, I have a belief in a God--and I think that She has a wonderful sense of humor!

All laughing aside, I look at purposes. I am attracted to Neocon's depictions of greater purposes than our own survival, much as I find myself aligned with Steven intellectually. I do not view my attraction as sufficient evidence of a "fact." I have a faith, but I do not expect anyone to buy into it simply because I state it increasingly loudly.

However, a question that may not be relevant: What about those weird moments of "special insight"? Where do they fit?

And about men and raising offspring not their own, let's do a search on it?
