Caution, rant follows:

Having calmed myself after a week of hysterical market movement, analysis, and FUD, I've finally come to the sad realization that it is going to take a long time for QCOM's market position to be fully understood and appreciated by the masses. There are just too many people operating with partial brain function.

I read at least three headlines yesterday that said the market was down because of worries over earnings reports. Has anyone seen anything in any of the earnings releases that worries you? All of the major companies exceeded estimates by significant margins and were generally positive in their remarks.

As for the Q, after listening to that conference call, I was convinced more than ever that QCOM's market position is strong and getting stronger and that things are moving more rapidly than I anticipated. Of course, I'm no professional analyst. I'm not paid to state a point of view.

And therein lies the rub. Analysts are paid to state a point of view. People erroneously assume that an analyst's point of view is his own and not subject to editorial review by his superiors. No. They are paid to state a point of view. Period. Think about that. They are not paid to be objective.

The amount of money at stake here goes beyond the imagination of most people. We are talking about the control of wireless communications. And in the future, all communications are going to be wireless. Take a look around you. Look at all of the telephone poles and wires everywhere. Those are going to disappear over time. The world is going to be a different place.

Why do you suppose the 3G auctions are being bid up so high in England? 22 billion pounds is nothing compared to the potential market. Think Star Trek communicators here. Think T.V. on demand. Think music on demand. With this type of market and the amount of money involved, there will be posturing and positioning. Lying and cheating. Fear. Uncertainty. Doubt. And at the center of this whirlwind, is Qualcomm, Inc. moving steadily along.

Keep the faith.

ericy bought QCOM infra div. after they settled a long court case, in QCOM favor last year, and yes they just extended there relationship. What you should watch is Japan, it will happen there first. Watch the development of W-CDMA. Go over to the other tread and lurk.
