Intel shot themselves in the foot. By saying that the supply shortage might ease in the 2nd half, they thought this would be taken as a positive. Instead, everyone predicted a price war. Thats why AMD was hurt today, plus the option writers trying to panic people into selling their calls.

Petz, good point....it makes sense as to why AMD took a hit today. What they don't understand is that with this price war the terms will not be set solely by Intel.

What Intel says about their production in 2H, IMO, is worthless. They don't know how many coppermines they can make next week, let alone 6 months from now.

I agree totally...Intel is clueless when it comes to their production figures.

Okay, how come no one comments when Petz does a double Petz?

Re: What Intel says about their production in 2H, IMO, is worthless. They don't know how many coppermines they can make next week, let alone 6 months from now. The bigger story from the CC was that Intel cannot meet demand for Q2, almost guaranteeing a rise in ASP's for AMD.

Petz,
I think you're right on with your analysis.

I would add that copper T-birds are going to be huge in 2nd half regardless of what INTC does. Copper will provide a clear difference for consumers to see the difference between AMD and INTC processors. This will also start to show just how advanced AMD's technology is over INTC's (good for the stock). IMHO, for some time to come AMD will be able to sell as many copper T-birds as they are capable of making, for a healthy profit also.
