Michael, check this out. This is an interesting post of Shawn's, and you will maybe see what I mean.

<<<Conservatives respect and understand that our rights come from God and that
the purpose of government is to protect those inalienable rights not grant
them.>>>

No they don't. They come from our laws, mainly from our Constitution. (Few peoples have our rights, Shawn, and the difference is not that we have God's favor, it is that we have our Constitution.) (Our laws and Constitution come from our culture, and our culture has been influenced by religion, of course. I understand that.) But you see [Michael] how fine and dandy conservatives think it is to intrude government into private lives for the purpose of carrying out the agenda of the conservative, in the case of Shawn, to "protect the rights" his God, ie his religion, says that government exists to protect.

<<<When morality declines, the abuse of rights increases and more government is necessary!>>>

Michael, why do I get the impression that "when morality declines" in that sentence means when other citizens start doing things Shawn doesn't approve of?-- and THAT'S WHEN, this conservative declares, "more government is necessary"!
