<< Yeah, I know - sometimes it just all seems too good to be true. My only point is that they aren't infallible. And IOM if they make one mistake that leaks out the press, they will be severely punished - because of their past. Even a mistake that is easily overcome. >>

I've been thinking about this a bit since you initially brought up the point, and I agree with you to an extent, however, I think there is some evidence to suggest it's not entirely true too.

There was one big mistake that we recently made that I can think of, and the backlash was pretty small.

When the xbox hype was going on, Jerry Sanders goes on an interview and basically announces AMD has the deal, all investors think AMD has the deal, and AMD share price goes up quite a bit at that time. However, as we know, AMD did not get the deal. When this happened the stock pulled back a bit, however, it didn't pull back to the level below where xbox came out, and it ver quickly rebounded from the pullback. In my opinion, we should have been hurt much worse than we were. It could have easily been a giant blow to stockholder confidence, because the ceo is misleading everyone who owns stock. However, the price just kept going up. We had similar reactions when the gateway news was delayed, and it seemed like we wouldn't be using gateways.

I also think the way dresden is currently being handled is a minor screw up at least. Many people expected spitfires from dresden and we're not going to get any. There is still this big question mark over it, that could have been removed by now.

The whole socket A/Slot A issue about whether there will be motherboards for spitfires could be a screw up. If spitfire is better than athlon classic, releasing it without thunderbird at the same time could be a screw up.

I think some of these things will/are happening, but I don't think any of them will impact the stock. In general, I just don't see our execution as flawless as many others here. I think it's been good, but there have been some bumps in the road. I think those who are scared of AMD's reputation aren't in the stock yet, if they were we wouldn't be trading at a forward multiple of 15 on 100% YOY revenue growth.
