Does anyone recognize the name "Via Technologies"? They're the company that built the PC133 chipset that Intel is suing. The company that's planning to build DDR chipsets.

Here's an interesting link on their website. In their own words they consider dramreview.com "An Unbiased View of Memory Usage". And if the premier SDRAM/DDR supporter claims dramreview is unbiased, they must be!

Welcome to the DDR Zone, the ultimate resource for information about the latest memory specification. VIA Technologies, Inc. is constantly looking for ways to improve the PC industry while maintaining the natural evolution of new technologies. Following on its success with PC133, VIA recognizes the immediate benefits and advantages of migrating to DDR SDRAM as the next generation memory technology.

DDR SDRAM utilizes the existing DRAM infrastructure and technology while doubling the nominal bandwidth available to systems in an easy to design and simple to adopt way. Initially a perfect solution for memory intensive server and workstation applications, DDR?s low cost and low voltage will ultimately make it an ideal solution for all segments of the PC market, high performance desktop and mobile PCs, Value PCs and even Internet Appliances and mobile devices.

VIA is working with a number of the leading memory vendors and standard-setters to create industry wide support for this open standard and bring DDR into the mainstream. Come back frequently to see our DDR updates.
