Stop tempting us.

Maybe I should run a lottery to get rid of my shares. Might get back some $ that way....

Bruce, it is close to $130 Billions (assuming $250/ounce), but remember that the world production is not much more than 2500 tonnes, so if those tons were to come on the market, even over a 20 years period, the price of gold could go down much farther.

Bruce, I think this is how it's done: A metric ton is one million grams (or 2204.6 lbs Avoirdupois). Precious metals are measured in troy ounces (originating from Troyes, France) in which the pound is 12 oz, rather than 16 oz as in the Avoirdupois system (the troy pound has 5760 grains, while the Av. weighs 7000). The key - a troy ounce is 31.1035 grams.
Anyway, to get the value of 8000 metric tonnes, you could divide 1,000,000 grams by 31.1035 to get the number of troy ounces in a MT (= 32150.723). Then, multiply by 8000 to get 257,205,784 ounces. Multiply that by today's per oz close ($279) and you get $71,760,413,736 (rounded a couple of times along the way, that is). regards, Scott

Bruce,

The present value, assuming immediate sale (highly improbable) at todays closing price (281.50) is

72,411,575,530.00 Dollars U.S.

If I had that amount, I would immediately convert to the beleagured Swiss Franc (assuming--well, that might take a few days) in the current market!

Re GPGI, I think that it would be extremely prudent for current management to make some attempt at communication with its estraged shareholder base.

Re the comment someone made about the fact that some have access and some do not is not news.

Since Bob is our elected internet rep, let him get the news and put it out to us all!

Regards,

Jack!!

Bruce,

I will contribute four of my GPGI shares to the person who can most closely approximate the wealth of Solomon based upon his annual tribute in gold alone! May require some biblical research, but I will accept the stated annual tribute and the duration of his reign as final.

Jack!
