ATHM vs DSL. . . . The second wave of DSL carriers are getting the attention. . . this puts more pressure on ATHM, which is currently using analog cable modem technology. . .I think they will get worse before they turn around. Down time has been a problem. . . and unfair distribution of "party lines". . .which explains cable modem brown outs. I've heard of DSL here. . . will get installed. . .if for no other reason than to compare. . .

I still believe that DSL is very limited though. . . and that investing in a last mile company requires extensive DD in their current potential market. . . and expansion markets that have commitments by local carriers for transition of nodes. . . which is quite expensive.

[To say they "hope" to be in an area, means they don't have commitment by the local carrier that the nodes will be converted to handle high speed data. . . ]

ATHM may still get spun off by A.T. & T. . . in fact, I would say they probably are getting close to finding a suitor. . .which makes them a potentially good takeover play. But as for making it on their own. I honestly don't think that management has what it takes.
