Joe,

< * FC-PGA370 support
* Possible 266MT/s Socket A support >

< They'll have the benefits of Socket A, and the compatibility of SSE that Scumbria has been suggesting that AMD needs. >

One of the main reasons that National Semi was not able to do well with Cyrix acquisition - their indecision and vacillation regarding which standards to adopt. These guys are not risk takers. The moment I saw "possible Socket A support", I know Via is not going anywhere. I view Via contemplating of providing Socket A support with their processors as a validation of Socket A - which is good for AMD.

< I think the loss of X-box hurt AMD. The only way to make up for the position of weakness 3DNow may face would be to achieve the 30% of microprocessor market. >

I don't see x-box becoming a standard setting thing as you guys see. When AMD gets to 30% CPU market share, it will certainly bring more support for 3DNow from the software community.
