Dear QS: Yes, it is indeed a bummer! I am pretty darn sure SI management will get flooded with some pretty strongly worded PMs and e-mails if things start to change for the worse.

SI is _the_ quality place for people to discuss stocks right now. Should SI have wanted to increase its membership, I personally think they would have done a lot better if the free offer had been made to people who open online accounts with Merrill Lynch. At least one has to cough-up a minimum of $20,000 in cash or securities to open an account there.

In closing, I know almost nothing about National Discount Brokers, but I scratch my head wondering what kind of clients they get. On the first page of the application, it asks people to select their preferred title. The choices are: Mr. Mrs. Miss Ms. Dr. and **Duck***:

ndb.com

I can honestly say I have never seen the title "Duck" before someone's name. ML's web site does not give people the Duck--or Bull--title option.

Regards,

Lynn

P.S. I took a look but I am not signing up for an account at NDB. I am very content, thank you, with my Schwab and ML accounts [note: ML is **much** better than Schwab at tax time].
