Thanks for your kind response.

My comments were not directed specifically at you but to the thread as a whole. My comments were triggered by your statement that:

>>Every person I talk to, who hasn't actually looked at the numbers, thinks DSL will kick cables butt.<<

I was essentially agreeing with you in principle in saying that neither cable or DSL was the solution.

I further implied that AOL and ATHM would be the major players.

On technology, I am saying that today's sushi is tomorrows yucky smelling stuff. I agree with your technology statements but I try to put technology in perspective. I think that we both agree and might state things differently.

Regarding leverage, in my opinion, it's best used in the early stages of a promising investment. I don't recommend leveraging an entire portfolio, nor do I advocate backing just one horse.

In any case, I use leverage from time to time, with care.

Regarding ATHM, I think it's time to back-up the truck.

Thanks for your kind response.

I can't remember the specific areas, they are in Canada though (Jay, pipe in), but theses areas have already
achieved 25% penetration without bandwidth problems.

In Calgary (a city of approx 850,000 people) where I live, 50% of all residential internet users use @HOME. I experience supafly fast speeds. There have been no complaints in the media regarding speeds, nor have any of my friends complained.

Calgary (and Shaw) should be a test study for all MSOs on marketing, upgrades, and service. Vancouver should be a test study on how not to do things. They have had many speed problems. But you are correct with your point, market saturation can occur and cable can still be an enjoyable experience.

Jay
