A message I received privately from a board watcher that has not paid to post, but he has a good point that I have posted for him.

Regarding ICS.

Did you notice a blaring slap in the face for NOVL once again in the article...

I can't post since I have not become a member.

I asked Eric Schmidt point blank about Novell selling ICS directly instead of just OEM. He said that's the model they use - period. IE If I already have a 2 year old 4 way Dell web server (and don't need new hardware for a caching solution), I CAN'T BUY ICS - THE BEST SOLUTION - UNLESS I GO TO GATEWAY OR DELL TO BUY IRON.

This is crazy. That's why no one knows about it. It's OEM only which means that no marketing group is involved and this is why Novell doesn't really show up on the radar screen during the Caching Craze where small caching companies were making it big.

And, even if Novell wins some contest, people would probably say, Novell? Not "THAT" Novell.

It really makes sense why Novell's ICS is not showing up anywhere - because Novell likely feels its more the OEM's issue to market and even if ICS makes the headlights of the press - it is under the OEM's name.

tsk Tsk Tsk Eric.
