OH, the most successful investor that I personally know has
over the last twenty years limited his exposure in the stock market almost exclusively to telephone stocks. His opinion remains unchanged and his portfolio remains true to form with the largest holding being, as always, T.

The telcos have hit a stumbling block so far this year, but
earnings might get the sector back on track. FON, SBC and GTE are due to report this coming week. Another potential spark are the spin-offs/IPOs hitting the market. T's wireless will be a tracking stock. Bell Atlantic/Vodafone are spinning off their joint wireless venture. A comparison of FON and PCS (Sprint vs Sprint Wireless) charts easily reveals that the market has its sights on the wireless sector, which may be the best way to play the telcos. If a 2% of PALM spin-off created as much MO and hoopla as it did, the wireless spin-offs coming up, including the likely GTE wireless spin-off are a good bet and more likely to retain the market's attention over the long haul as opposed to the see-saw ride that COMS and PALM took.
