Piotr: Demand always picks up in the final two weeks of the 1Q. Goldman Sachs and others have also said that demand was slow for the first 2 months but had started to pick up in March.

This time last year Eckhard Pfeiffer was hoping like hell that the last two weeks of the quarter would get COMPAQ's earnings in line with expectations. When it failed - miserably - he said that they could not have given any warning because they had to wait until the last day of the quarter and then spend a couple of weeks figuring it all out. But they had other excuses about losses due to currency fluctuations.

P-- I do not use bold. Anyone that wishes to stress their view may. I just cut and pasted the article. Picking up late in the qtr did nothing for msft but possibly someone can explain why a drop in business PC (not consumer PC) business can assist any other PC related company. Since Win is installed in nearly every PC and their rev was down,, I guess Rocky is counting on 'next qtr' as many have for a year or more... No one wants to see it rise more than me,, I just have a lower target than most and still question if it will be met---
