But he will hand down a package of conduct relief. It could include that Microsoft make a version of Office that will port to Linux, a step in the right direction toward addressing Microsoft's monopoly of the PC operating system market.

Wouldn't it be amusing if Microsoft is force to support Linux and ends up with a monopoly share of the corporate Linux office suite market?

I don't have a problem with that. APIs, not code.

and stop discounting Windows to PC makers.

This helps consumers by raising the cost of the PC. Face it. The vast majority of users would be afraid to switch to Linux or any other OS (or be stuck due to the costs of replacing their current applications), so the consumer will end up eating the added cost.

I will admit Wine may become a real option with open APIs instead of just a toy for the frothing mouths as it is now.
