Jenna: I agree with your "guru" post. I've been around the Street a while and I'm still learning. Getting a bit better trading, and I love it; but it's work...boy is it work. (Lee)

I totally agree with your point concerning "gurus". Anyone trying to sell one something had better have one great reply to overcome the "why if you are so good at this, do you need to sell me something" question. Those that are providing information and analysis about companies may be offering good information. Again, they may not.

However, those that are selling this pick or that pick remind me of the touts you used to see when you walked into the race track. They always had six winners on yesterday's card and that's impressive since there are only nine races. Of course I bought their card the first several times I went to the track. What the heck did I know as a first timer timer at the track? I quickly realized, however, that they were picking three or four horses in each race. Sometimes that comprised 40% of all the horses that ran that day.

They were so quick to point out the six winners but of course they didn't tell you about the other twenty or thirty that lost. IN THE END, IT WAS ALWAYS UP TO ME TO FIGURE OUT WHICH ONE'S TO PLAY.

It's the same for all the guru's that want to sell you stock picks.

There's an easy way to figure out if anyone of them have any credibility. Check out their records. In fact, anyone that was truly successful would be able to provide an on going record of all their buys and sells at the specific moment they occurred that would be verified by a well known authority. That type of record with substantiation would make this "tout" the expert of all experts. Just imagine, everyone would want their picks. Everyone would be making bucks. The response would be overwhelming.

Is there such a service? I don't know but all the really good investor/traders I that I do know are very happy making money and living a great lifestyle. None of them want all the headaches of running a business or working for someone. They have all been there and done that. Now they just invest, make money and have fun.
