Where did you find that word?

Do you know what "brillig" means?

Sure. It's the name of the tribe that lives in the Nisqually Valley. The tribal name was used by French traders to describe the tribe's supposedly "square noses" (nez quarrÅ ), altered by the native's inability (or unwillingness) to pronounce the letter "R." Of course in their native language Lushootseed, it may have meant "French traders have unnaturally round noses." A large Mt. Rainier glacier and resultant river are also named after the tribe.
