They are unfamiliar terminology to me.

like I said before, value proposition is...control networks interfacing to data networks (such as the internet)

there is a very good document on the echelon web site describing this - URL escapes me, and I'm about to hit the sack for the weekend, so I wont bother doing a search for it.

IMHO, that doc would be worth a read.
