nothing wrong with your analysis on synthetic positions.

short put = mildly bullish or neutral
long call = bullish
synthetic long = very bullish

short call = mildly bearish or neutral
long put = bearish
synthetic short = very bearish

of course, there are more combo strategies -- spreads, butterflies, straddles, strangles, ratios, box.

that's why they're called options. so many possibilities.

addressed in chapter 21/mcmillan.....

this is an aggressive strategy that requires a strong cash position should it go against you.....same requirements as a synthetic long...you need to believe in direction and have impeccable timing and never use expanded margin to cover
