I agree with your assessment of ATHM's (broadband's) potential.

It does seem that AT&T has spoken with its $48 stock offer (1/1/01 to 6/1/02) to Cox, Comcast, etc. that they expect some short term pain until mid 2002 at the latest. I would be surprised if Cox, etc. would take the offer unless they were to take another equity position in broadband or wanted the money to build their fiber infrastructure.

It looks like patience is needed for ATHM and a long term outlook. It could go lower since there isn't any "profitable" news coming until next year. ATHM has "first mover" advantage and with AT&T they will build an intelligent plant for the long haul (voice, video, etc. applications in the years ahead)
