Hi DA

Does the lower than normal volume over the past two days have any impact on the Williams R% and money flow?

Not really other than maybe to affect the "angle" of the lines which in turn show how aggressive an up or down trend is. Higher volume would/should cause the angles to be steeper than lower volume days. This would be true of an index as well as an individual stock. My analysis is not changed because my goal is to try to locate tops and bottoms as well as support and resistance levels. Everything else that occurs in between is just white noise.

Also, many have been saying that up and down cycles have been compressed by the rapidly moving techs. How does this affect your T/A.

In the chart below take note of the time frame>> November and December. You can see that the stochastic indicator during that time frame stayed mainly above the 80 on the indicator (over bought) while the NASDAQ continued to rise.

208.240.76.45

Next you see two normal healthy corrections cycles in the month of January and the first of February followed by more NASDAQ gains and a continuing uptrend. These cycles were covering fairly long time frames, 1 to 2 months per cycle.

Now look at the stochastic indicator since the big sell off began about the 10th of March. You will see 3 correction cycles lasting only 10 days or so from sell off to recovery.

In answer to your question the TA bears out the compression theory that you just mentioned. These 10 day cycles are way shorter than we have had during the last 2 1/2 years. This is a market climate that is not to be trusted either by bulls or bears. You can get burned very fast regardless of which side of the trade you are on, long or short. Cash is king at this point. All IMO of course.

FWIW Im not back on the thread full time but will post from time to time as I did this morning when I see something important that I think is worth noting. I really am enjoying the time away and I am glad to see that everyone is utilizing the thread as it was intended.
