"But if we really believe that our portfolio will now only grow at 11%, shouldn't we take any opportunity to sell everything when it doubles and triples in six months?"

Nope. But it does mean if you are after abnormal returns you had better have a plan. Thats why most of us on this thread are interested in learning how to be better at the GG.And why some of the experience heads keep warning people about the dangers of margin (Lot of folks would die for 11% returns in their portfolio today).
And they (the elders)keep reminding us to do DD before jumping into a stock even if we're pretty sure it is a baby gorilla.
As the esteemed Mr. Buckley has said " you usually get more out of your efforts if you put more into your efforts" or words to better effect.

Any opinions are welcome!

Freeus,
It seems that for the past several weeks, you've been on a mission to try to advocate a short to medium range trading strategy for G and K's. Practically every post begins with "wouldn't it have been better to take profits in...". Despite numerous replies from a number of people with both data and personal experiences that support the validity of a buy and hold approach, you continue on the same diatribes. This is starting to remind me of earlier discussions of option strategies here, which ended up spinning off into it's own thread. Maybe that's the answer here as well...why not spin off your own "Trading G and K's" thread? It would spare some of us having to read the same discussions over and over again.
