Waldy....Paul, Toy, Scott, Peter...et. al. >>The point that this poster makes is that there is no marketing group for Drew major's Internet Operating System initiatives. I can't find any problem with the OEM model for sales, but if there is no marketing group to make the case for the products, then, that is a major disaster. I find it difficult to believe that that is true.>> "Marketing Group"????? I'd like to volunteer for our network of agents from around the country to become Eric and Drew Major's first non OEM-related test marketing group. We are currently signing contracts with other organizations throughout the country. We have a network of individuals and agents over 1000 strong. These INDIVIDUAL are NOT your traditional ball & chain employees. They are largely independent contractors who are thougth/energy leaders in their own respective "communities." Our model is to build these New Age Virtual Distribution Networks "from the outside in" - disposing all the Old fashion marketing models which are money & control centric first - energy & trust centric last. Since we locked down our basic outlines of our communication patent early last summer, we've been concentrating on building a network of very empowered INDIVIDUALS the the Old Fashion way - calls, email, conferencing, shared files, forums, unified messaging technologies, voice broadcasts, VoIP....and yes - even SI/Yahoo postings etc. etc. Traditional marketing and brand-based marketing strategies have limited energy for they still view the world as being controlled by the company. The vast majority of "companies" are caught like deer in headlights when it comes to embracing these new mediums and trust empowering currencies. As far as I can tell, Novell's VAR channel is a fixed scrap heap of dated procedures/controls for selling fixed seats and products - NOT doing what should be done to put Novell on the map - i.e. create these new empowering currencies based on ideas, collaborative trust, openness, risk and free flowing energy. Novell's traditional OEM channel is not that far behind. These approaches do NOT embrace the key thing that's driving everything on the REAL Internet - ie. the INDIVIDUAL. Sure, Michael Dell may slap Eric ONE high five, but what does this "get" Novell, Drew or Eric. NO mention or comment about ICS - a potentially WHITE HOT flagship product which should be blazing trails all across the world right NOW!!!!! Novell totally LACKS the necessary "wild and crazy", "out there", "flying at 80,000 feet" sociopersonalcultural energy which is created in these emerging open virtual communities where the currency is TRUST and the vehicle to get individuals where they want to go - to take ACTION!! - is the fusion of IDEAS-VISION-BELIEF-TRUST and RISK. I'm ready to start this NOW. I'm ready to start breaking doors down NOW!! I'm ready to learn about ICS, NDS and all the other goodies lying around this Jacuzzi parts shop behind the Wasatch Range. I'm ready to get down and dirty with Toy, Peter, Paul, Scott and others so we can all get are hands DIRTY while using our INDIVIDUAL spirits and ENERGY to EVANGELIZE whatever we can which will help and serve those we meet, greet, run into, have lunch or dinner with. Forget about protocol folks. This will take care of itself. I'm being very blatant and pointed and "out there" for ONE reason: to get some people to "think different" about ways in which Novell could completely revamp it's distribution strategy. The world is NOT fixed anymore. The world has radically changed. Throw out all of the Old models and Old ideas. Get used to hanging upside down. Perhaps it's good the heady days of Novell.com didn't materialize a year ago this time. For I think we have the potential to create a totally NEW/Novell.com which will totally transcend the recent NOT.COM phase. I want to create/sell/serve a virtual Internet Appliance which INDIVIDUALS can use to store ALL their important data which companies/networks can talk/map to. Empowering THE INDIVIDUAL to embrace this trend is part of this ONE vision which I think would put Novell on the map. BTW, Scott, this goes right to the heart of your recent and past comments concerning "personal directory" and "personal cache." I, too, and many others have this vision. What's interesting about it is that you CAN'T make this proprietary. For if you really, really mean to stand up for the INDIVIDUAL competition ends. Getting the world to map/move it's mindset from the Old Fixed Competitive Pie mindset to Helping and serving INDIVIDUALS will create it's own reward: A MASSIVELY, VIRALLY GROWING PIE. This is the REAL Internet, the REAL Tsunami. Let's bring this into focus, join hands and "take charge" of this ONE vision. And Paul, this is NOT "my" vision. Get some new glasses buddy. For Novell's ONE network has the potential to unite us all. Fire up the engines Waldy! Peace. GO!!
