Let me add a comment:

1) Establishing DDRAM support is as important as SMP. This will demonstrate technical leadership.

2) SMP is nice for prestige reasons, I think (I don`t believe the SMP workstation market being too important by units. Low end SMP servers running Linux on the other hand... BTW, our very small company decided 4 years ago to switch to Linux because we have been fed up with this Windows NT BS. Main reason was transparence and reliability. Yet at this time it was completely out of mind to imagine a shareware OS developed by students going to be the biggest threat for MS in the corporate server market. So much about existing mindset and how fast this can change)
