Another book to go with it is 'La Historia Verdadera de la Conquista de M‚xico' by Bernal D¡az del Castillo ... he was with Grijalba on the first charting of the coast of the Mayan portion of what is now M‚xico, then was with Cort‚s [whose own notes were sent as a letter to the spanish Court and lost at sea, no copies were kept, and so the account of D¡az, written twenty years or more later, are most of what we have to go on]. ..... i've never seen it in english, but surely it has been translated ... a friend has a coffee-table style version with the original prints, which are extremely descriptive of attitudes at the time [and which certainly give the lie to that church piece imho].

Yes, i'm aware of Castro's government raking off the majority of workers' pay .... but stealing the sons of cubanos one by one is not the way to stop it, imho.
