Now the MAC is great. I agree that there are a number of advantages. And true the earlier operating systems have had some problems that I understand have been resolved. (Less need to reinstall the OS to eliminate mysterious problems.) I still think visual graphics are better on the MAC. But as you say there are some spot shortages of apps that don't bother to do MAC versions. On the whole I think it has excellent applications and is quite useable.
