I agree.. Know where we can find oil consumption figures for say 1980, 1990 and now?

I really don't know what people are thinking about when they make those statements. They should try camping out for a weekend with no clothes or heat and eat year old acorns. -g-

You undoubtedly are referring to the "tech" revolution. Unfortunately, we don't eat, ride to
work or sleep inside a data store. Furthermore, the computer industry including software
does not overall make up a very large portion of GDP.


Energy production and consumption is a far less a percentage of GDP then it was historically. That is not entirely due to technology but rather to a change in consumption habits and production abilities. Also a change in the size of total GDP.
