I agree with your interpretation. In some article at eetimes.com or techweb.com (I think) some time ago, there was mention Intel is making a single channel (meaning bandwidth is 1.6GB/s vs. 3.2GB/s, like i820 vs. i840) version of the Tehama chipset (for Willy) to make the platform cheaper. As Intel's CEO Barrett said, "Intel is scrambling". (Yes, that quote was taken out of context. ;) )
