lkj - They can fly on solar power, and can stay up for months if not years. This technology was mentioned as a possible replacement for low orbit satellites. What is your take on this, and if this is material enough to effect the last-mile technology landscape?

I do not know the results of any reliable financial comparisons. When compared to LEO's I suspect that they may be cheaper over denser areas, but more expensive over very large, relatively empty, regions. As for comparisons to ground based stuff, I just do not know. I haven't thought about it enough, nor have I seen enough good studies.
