INVESTools Advisory
A Bluelight.com Special at Kmart (KM)

Discount retailer Kmart (KM) brought its renowned bluelight
specials to the Internet with good results. In 14 weeks,
Kmart's Bluelight.com free Internet service registered its
one millionth subscriber, and that makes it the fastest
growing website around, according to analyst Alan Mak at the
Argus Weekly Staff Report. Kmart's web strategy is "one of
the most aggressive of any land-based retailer," Mak says,
and Bluelight.com has left the likes of Wal-mart.com and
Target.com in the dust.

Bluelight.com lined up such powerful partners as Yahoo,
Spinway.com, Softbank, and Martha Stewart's Omnimedia. The
site also leverages Kmart's 2,000+ stores and weekly
advertising circulars; Mak calls this "a true clicks 'n
bricks approach." As such, Bluelight.com enjoys primary
placement on Yahoo properties that Mak says give it access to
96% of the US population. "This is a potent combination that
few ISPs and retailers can match," he says.

Kmart's next challenge is to convert browsers into buyers. So
Bluelight.com plans a relaunch later this year with a full
service site that combines free Internet access with a wide
array of products, many of which will not be available in
Kmart's stores. "Bluelight.com has the opportunity to be a
major Internet player. Buy Kmart for a $15 price target," Mak
says.
