overlay of presidential, decennial, and annual patterns

marketscience.com

Years ending in 0 usually are weak since the economy is usually topping out near the decade turn. Overlaying the presidential pattern makes it more bullish toward the end since these include the predominantly bullish years ending in 2 and 6.

on presidential cycle, my source is a Stan Weinstein book
"How to Profit from Bull & Bear Markets" (or close to this name)

generally best year is presidential election year
worst year is two years prior and two years after
it works over the four-year cycle like a sine wave
1998 was a horrible year, with Asian climax
we saw Russian default, and LTCM fiasco/bailout

I would conclude that favorable monetary policy would contribute to the stronger stock market performance
if this phenomenon is at work now, then the Fed will lean toward no rate hike sooner because of elections
I find it hard to expect a hike in June when primaries have largely completed and Republican/ Democrat issues are squaring off
the biggest risk I see now is the Fed will continue to hike rates until their effects are seen
then the remaining 3/4 of cars on the economic momentum train fall down afterwards
Housing is already down
maintaining credibility will lead the Fed to hike

hey, LG, I will go back to the Porch when I damned good & ready
not all my messages to you were obnoxious last autumn if you recall
I recall acknowledging your correct call once or twice
consider my presence an indication of finding value here
be flattered
insult me a few more times just like I did you, then look in the mirror and tell yourself that you are a better man I(whose behavior is no different than mine)
