Hear, hear ... Well, a healthy six-year-old can be quite resilient. With luck and good parenthood he stands a chance of recovering from these traumas.

Up to this point, the only net winner has been Fidel Castro. But he just began to lose. Never mind what he says, he will of course make it into a personal victory and celebrate it. But he's on the downhill trend now, a loser no matter what happens.

Most likely scenario - The legal jungle eventually gets beaten back, and Juan Miguel returns his family to his country. There may be some hope that JM's mind can be changed on this, but certainly the Miami zoo will not have made the most enchanting impression.

Let's say they go back - Well the story won't end there ... powerful symbols stay powerful ... the press is going to follow the story of Eli n, and L zaro's place as porcinely intransigent dictatorial villain is about to be taken by Fidel. Just watch.

<< It is preposterous to think that the Relatives have any standing that supercedes the right of his father. >>

The rights of what father? In Cuba, the government owns all children. It is written in their laws.

What you are doing is supporting the Cuban governments ownership and abuse of all Cuban children. In effect, you are saying, let's return Elian to the ownership of the Cuban government, where he belongs.

The wonderful Miami Cuban Exile Family tried to save Elian from a life of abuse at the hands of the Cuban government. Thru their efforts, they tried to heal Elian's mental and physical wounds, from his horrible ordeal of fleeing Castro's abusive government.

Now, their wonderful efforts may be in vain.
