Ted,

<I don't know....most of the pc growth is occurring outside the US. I think internet funny money is going into the purchase of homes, cars and boats. I think pc purchases are for real and are made up of US citizens playing catchup, and foreign countries and their residents buying pc's so they can participate in the world economy. Even the French are starting to go online after resisting for several years.>

You make some excellent points. Clearly, all this plays into the overall demand scene.

<The pc growth rate isn't huge but its enough to keep two pc chip makers pretty busy.>

The question is at what capacity level? Is there more capacity being put in place than there will be demand in a year or two?

It is nice to see investment in capacity at the bottom of the cycle but the rate at which capacity is being put in place today is somewhat disturbing.
There is little question that we are in the upward leg of the semi cycle. The question is how long will this go on? Especially if the bubble bursts?

Chuck

P.S.: It took Japan about 10 years to recover from the effects of the economic down cycle when the "bubble" burst in 1989.
