That is true. Credit card companies are perfectly happy to let people sink further and further into debt indefinitely at 28% interest.

This is true, and I have to pay a higher rate for that $1000 then I would have to if I borrowed from my broker. But I will pay it off in a couple of months and I won't get a margin call from Discover.
