Do you have the faintest idea of how your own government works. The only aberration has been that the exile comunity was allowed any say over Elian in our legal system. There was no buck to pass. Like I said, it is over.

Your point wasn't missed. It was and is bogus. Who are you or anyone else to judge whether the father is a puppet. And even if he is, even puppets have rights. The issue is whether the father can reclaim the son after the death of the mother. Those rights are immutable regardless of your opinion on puppetry. There is absolutely no credible indication that his father or his native country poses any threat to the child's well being. Quite the contrary. The subsequent indications are that the reunion is not without some joy.

The really sad part of this is the partisan politics and the macho posturing of all these politicians like Connie Mack and Trent Lott and the Mayor of Miami and this talk show whore Diaz-Balart jumping to indict Clinton and Reno and playing to the cheap seats in this election year. I see no respect from them for the rule of US law, natural law or common sense. I hope the Lott of them are defeated for all their pandering on this issue.

".....This guy was "controlled" by "handlers" and held on Cuban Diplomatic Soil...."

Did you ever pause and ask yourself if maybe the Miami relatives themselves were not being controlled by others for political or financial gain????

In any argument you must always look at both sides of the issue. Never automatically ASSUME one side is evil while the other is beyond reproach. Decisions must be based on facts. None were presented here to warrant a father's loss of his child.

The Feds did THE RIGHT thing.

"...Would this child be going back to Castro's Cuba if Ronald Regan were President ?...."

If Reagan were President you can bet your ass that this boy would have been back in Cuba long ago. Reagan placed family values above politics. Also, keep in mind that Reagan opened the dialogue with Gorbatchev which helped bring down the Berlin Wall.

We are at the dawn of the 21st century, a decade after the fall of the Soviet Union, and there is still no evidence of a dialogue with Cuba. Somehow I believe that influential Cuban-Americans, are responsible for the ongoing hostility between the two countries.
