The father has already waited since November, how long should they be allowed to delay? They are now talking visitation rights for the relatives. Bull, IMO they did much damage to Elian and deserve nothing. They should not let them anywhere near the boy.

Waiting any longer would have encouraged the growing political side-show while prolonging a gross injustice.

The authorities were no danger to the child. The source of the real danger is indicated by the open threats to anyone who disagreed with the mob outside the house.

Surely the real question, from the father's perspective is why it took so long for the authorities to do the right thing.
