RE: Capitalism...

When I lived and worked in Manhattan during the 80's, I still remember seeing graffiti painted on the side of an apartment building across from St. John The Divine Cathedral on Amsterdam that read:

"Reagan is a dupe of Godless capitalism!"

I'm not sure why that always stuck with me? Perhaps it was the adjacent empty lot infested with rats, or my youthful days of pounding the pavement and trying to make ends meet, or the proximity to Columbia University.

Regardless, I'm not sure we can equate the Phillip Morris situation to the Microsoft situation in any shape or form outside of the fact that shares of both companies are making investors ill. Personally, I would rather be taken ill by that outcome rather than by the outcome of using products that actually can cause physical harm. Thus said the son, brother and son-in-law of a smoking mother, two sisters and mother-in-law.

NO NO you must not have seen my posts on the Libertarian thread. I'm thoroughly in favor of SELF-government, as advocated by the principles of the Libertarian Party.
