"This is a sorry administration in my opinion."

Well Frank, I find it very interesting that this story is being discussed in such partisan fashion. The Democrats are in support, the Republicans are against. IMO, this says a lot, but I must say that the Dems have the moral ground here. I have yet to see a Repub support the taking of the boy. Why is that? Not strange to you?

The relatives have stonewalled for 9 days, enough is enough. BTW, who is paying for all of this? Certainly not the relatives, and just how much have they been offered to keep this tragedy going? Certainly, none of this has been in the best interest of Elian.

Frank,

Suppose you were Reno and had a Court Order ordering the child be reunited with the father until their court date. Now suppose the relatives refused to respect the Court Order. We would be facing the same situation that we have now. Reno, the Feds, would have to use force to rescue the child. The relatives have made it clear now for over 5 months that they would NOT release the child.

As far as Reno getting a Court Order, the question is why does she need one????

The family does NOT have legal custody of the child. The father is the true and only custodian. Until the courts decide who has custody of the child, the father is considered as the legal custodian. Therefore, there was no legal motive for Reno to obtain a Court Order.
