ANTEC/Nortel Networks to Demonstrate Complete HFC Broadband Networking Solutions at NCTA's Cable 2000 Show
Booth to Feature "Bringing Broadband Home" Vision-Dome Theater Updated 7:01 AM ET April 26, 2000
DULUTH, Ga., April 26 /PRNewswire/ -- ANTEC (NASDAQ:ANTC), a leader in the hybrid fiber/coaxial (HFC) broadband transport industry, will demonstrate complete HFC broadband solutions for MSOs at the National Cable Television Association's (NCTA) Cable 2000 show. Operators can experience ANTEC's complete line of optronics and RF equipment, powering products, outside plant products, distributed products, and Cornerstone(R) Super Access(TM) voice and data broadband network solutions at booth #3943.
As a leader in optical networking, ANTEC, with its partner Nortel Networks, will showcase their platform flexibility in driving fiber closer to the home. ANTEC's booth will feature a vision-dome theater that will present "Bringing Broadband Home," ANTEC's projection of broadband's growth and development over the next decade. Exhibits will focus on new and existing products and their migration path into IP telephony.
"Having 'now and future' capabilities is a major milestone for cable telephony. We are the only company that can provide complete solutions today that will migrate into IP telephony tomorrow," said Robert Stanzione, President and CEO of ANTEC.
ANTEC was the first to introduce optical transmission technology to the cable television industry more than 10 years ago. Since then, ANTEC has continued to launch revolutionary products that increase the efficiency, reliability and flexibility of broadband systems, and remains the industry's most complete supplier of products for HFC broadband transport systems.
ANTEC's Laser Link(R) 1550 nm Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) Transplex Transport System has been enhanced to include the highest performing externally modulated transmitter in the industry, allowing signals to travel 20 to 25 kilometers further than any other transmitter. Increased distance means fewer amplifiers for operators, thereby reducing capital costs while improving network reliability. The system also allows operators to double wavelengths from 8 to 16, as needed.
ANTEC's Proteus(TM) Scaleable Node offers a low-cost base configuration for initial network deployment. This optical node's capabilities can grow with the network as operators add interactive services and need increased bandwidth.
ANTEC's MicroNode(TM), which combines advanced hybrid technology and compact design in a cost-effective package, allows operators to drive fiber optics deeper into the network. With one to four high-gain outputs, MicroNode provides enough coverage to replace two to three traditional RF amplifiers and the reliability that's necessary for today's digital video, high-speed data and telephony services.
ANTEC's RF Link(TM) Mini-Bridger amplifiers have been totally re-engineered to 870 MHz. Advanced hybrid technology has significantly enhanced their performance.
ANTEC's Total System Power (TSP) offers a huge leap forward in reliability, flexibility, scaleability, cost-effectiveness and performance. Ideal for broadband and telephony applications, TSP's dual module design enables operators to upgrade to standby power as their needs change.
Through Arris Interactive, ANTEC's venture with Nortel Networks, ANTEC has become the leading supplier of HFC cable telephony and Internet access solutions. ANTEC provides the exclusive U.S. market channel for Cornerstone(R) telephony and IP products to cable operators. By joining with Nortel, ANTEC is the cable industry's only end-to-end solutions provider.
