If these hoodlums had any descenscy they would have turned over Elian to his daddy right away instead of abusing him for five
months for their own personal and their "leaders'" political gain...

There is no evidence that Elian was abused by his relatives
in Miami. I also do not think the relatives kept Elian because
they thought it would benefit them. I firmly believe that they
acted in what they thought was the best interest of Elian. They
desperately wanted to avoid the kid having to go back to an
oppressive communist dictatorship. You may disagree with
their opinion on what was in the child's best interest, or at least
believe that the child should be with his father absent any
evidence of abuse. I might even agree with you on the 2nd part
of that statement.
But that doesn't mean that his Miami relatives were acting out of
malice and greed with no concern for the child's welfare.
