We are obviously going to disagree on this. Lacking solid
evidence I see no reason to assume evil or selfish motivation
about either the father or the Miami relatives. I am not sure that
the Miami relatives will make a bundle off of this, but even if
they do it does not mean that they were motivated by greed or
did not care for Elian. I wonder why in hotly disputed cases
people always have to attack the motives and character of the
other side. Even if we assume for the sake of argument that
your position on the overall question (should Elian go back to
his father?) is correct, why do those who are wrong have to be
demonized?
