RE: A definition of politics also includes that my "ism" is better than your "ism". And oppression is always in the eyes of the beholder. Europeans view North Americans as being oppressed. Maybe they should send their armies to come and deliver us from the oppressors. I don't agree. I don't think oppression is just in the mind of the beholder (except to the point that if you don't object to any of the governments actions perhaps you can be said to not be oppressed). Some things are objectively wrong, imprisoning and torturing those who non-violently oppose the government is one of these things. I don't think that most Europeans believe that Americans labor under oppression and if they do honestly believe this then I would say they are wrong. I do believe in looking at issues from different view points and different ideas but that does not mean that some of those ideas are not wrong. Tim
